In 2014, the original draw-ing(s) and series of ‘vaulted’ books were developed specifically for the Market Street vaults (Vault 4) under Jeffrey Street at Edinburgh’s alternative contemporary art and music festival known as ‘Hidden Door‘ – as part of the bound : unbound response to the site. The existing walls of the vaulted space were encrusted with salts and there was also ground water streaming down the back of the space.
In the 2015 Hidden Door festival Felicity set up a larger installation piece in the derelict shower rooms of the Old Lighting Depot building in the hidden courtyard behind Kings’ Stables Road.
Felicity’s experimental process based practice uses real-time scientific methods of large scale paper chromatography, artist books and installations in architectural spaces and in the landscape to form unique abstract works revealing ephemeral and ‘alternative truths’ about site using manufactured and natural dyes.
Producing pieces, ‘…with layers of vivid colour that seem to have been drawn up into the paper by some kind of osmosis.’
– Duncan Macmillan, The Scotsman (2016).
Felicity is available for commissions and site specific residencies.
